I got my Chef Choice Model 610 food slicer a couple weeks before Christmas in anticipation of making my Christmas dinner prep easier. And what a nice addition this food slicer was. It is easy to set up, easy to use, has adequate safety features and cleans up in a jiffy. Because I wanted to use it for large ham slicing.... I did order the Ham Slicing Blade extra from the factory which cost about $30 which I used to slice my Christmas ham instead of the serrated blade that comes with the product.
This is an excellent slicer.

I was in the restaurant equipment business for over 35 years and sold hundreds of comercial slicers such as Hobart, Globe etc. This is not a comercial machine but it thinks it is. It does a supurb job of slicing from paper thin to a thick slice of rye. I don't use it as often as I should, but it is relatively easy to clean and a great addition to any kitchen.

Bought the Chefs Choice 610 food slicer, then saw the Waring FS150 (similar but a Professional model with larger motor) for $30 less an hour later. Bought that one also with intent to look up reviews online and decide at home. After reading reviews (great reviews for Chefs Choice, awful reviews for the Waring) and instruction manuals on both (still can't believe you can't run the Waring for more than 10 minutes at a time and the poor design for cleanup) decided to keep the Chefs Choice. Used it to slice roast beef, swiss cheese and baked turkey breast. Worked extremely well on all and the unit is extremely easy to use. Cleanup took about 5 minutes total. Unit is a little larger than I would have liked, but all the food slicers have similar dimensions. Well worth the extra $30.

Purchased for my wife; Christmas 2010. She is on Weight Watchers and has lost over 120 lbs. She eats a large salad everyday (at least) and used to manually dice the peppers, onions, etc. The rest of the family was usually finished with dinner before she was done dicing all her salad ingredients. Now, everything goes though the dicer and she is done in less than half the time - and the family doesn't mind waiting for her... I have used it for potatoes, carrots, and even rutabagas (although I had to slice them very thin first).

I did a lot of research before purchasing. Reviews of similar products indicated cheap plastic which tended to break or crack under little pressure. So far the Big Mouth (and "big" is debatable - wish the cutting area was bigger) has worn fine. It is used practically every day. It is very sturdy and easy to use, assemble, and store.

Do the research. Look for sales. Get the Big Mouth.

As the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

I purchased the "As Seen on TV" version of this item and loved it to death however after around 5 weeks of daily use it shattered when cutting a onion. Unable to live with out it, I checked Amazon to buy another one when I noticed this product It appeared a lot stronger. I have since used this item for 5 weeks and it still works great , it is more durable and easy to clean, with the cleaning tool. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because of the size of the cutting area I wish the hole was 50% bigger.

Convection works better than one without it. I have used toaster ovens for many years. This one is excellent in every way. Cooks evenly and crispy. Great product for the money especially now that they reduced the price ten dollars since I bought it. I've had it for about 45 days. The timer knob is a bit stiff when turning counterclockwise but is not a problem as some have stated. Could not be any happier. Highly recommend it!

Let me start with I typically hate toaster ovens. THey are either huge or crappy and small. This one fits perfect. We have cornered and I don't feel I am losing a ton of countertop space. I am super picky too! It cooks great too. I would give it 5 stars if you didn't have to do this weird rigamaroo thing with the timer and set all three knobs to toast, etc...BUT that's a small price to pay for something that actually works. The other reason we have it cornered is b/c it has a rounded back side. This is for pizza's. It truly fits a small round pizza for 2!!! I have cooked everything in this oven lately....porks, 2 hours roasts, toast, you name it! I am happy we bought this!!

Great toaster for a great price, September 6, 2011

I spent a couple days researching toaster ovens before finally deciding on this one, which seemed to have everything I was looking for while also being about $40 lower than my maximum price point. I've had the unit for a couple months now and so far I am very impressed. It heats up relatively quickly and has handled everything we've put in there with ease, from baking cornbread to toasting bagels to broiling catfish. I find the oven's size to be pretty perfect - it's big enough to hold just about anything I'd want to put in there, including most of my baking dishes, but not so big that it looks ridiculous or takes up too much room on the counter.

The construction seems very sturdy and while the sides and top do heat up a bit (which the instruction manual warns about) it's not nearly as bad as I was expecting based on some of the reviews on here, nor have I ever found the handle to be hot at all. As long as you make sure there's a couple inches of clearance around it I don't think the heat should be an issue during normal use. Now obviously if you're planning to leave it on for hours at a time then it will likely heat up more, but what would you expect from a $60 toaster? It's obviously not a full replacement for a traditional oven, nor does it claim to be.

Also, I wanted to clarify that this toaster oven most certainly DOES turn off on its own if you turn the knob past 20 minutes before setting it to the desired time. It is kind of a silly quirk but given that the instructions are printed not only in the owner's manual but also on the unit itself next to the timer, people really only have themselves to blame if they don't follow it.

All in all, I've found this product to be more than a match for my small-scale toasting and baking needs and I am very happy with my purchase. It's great to be able to make food without having to turn on my big energy-hogging oven, especially during the summer. The one thing I wish was different is that the timer knob is only marked every 10 minutes - it would be nice if it at least had 5-minute marks.

I received this chip maker set as an early Christmas present. We were pretty skeptical before we used it - how could you possibly get crispy potato chips from a microwave, and without any oil? I'm happily surprised to be able to say that you can. This works beautifully - half an hour after receiving the package, I have a bowl full of crisp & delicious sweet potato chips sitting in front of me!

It's true that the product manual is light on instructions, but frankly this is because there are very few instructions needed - slice potatoes, dry (I laid my slices out on paper towels while i got things ready - not more than 10 minutes total), place on trays, microwave. Ta da! The manual is also very clear that cooking time will vary for individual microwaves, so to me, it doesn't seem like a flaw that I need to monitor the cooking time. After my 3rd tray of chips, I had already gotten the timing down. It's also true that - again according to each individual microwave - chips in the middle of the tray may cook faster than the chips on the outer rim on the tray. Again, this isn't a problem for me - it takes about 5 seconds to open the microwave and either remove the finished chips or rotate the middle & outer chips for more even cooking. This is still a much better method than cooking chips in the oven, if only because it works faster (I can have a bowl of chips finished in the time it takes my oven to heat up) and because it means a LOT less clean up afterwards.

Some tips that I've already learned:
- Much easier to add salt/seasoning before the chips have cooked, as salt will stick to the damp surface better.
- When first using your chip trays, start with the manual's suggested cooking time, and add more time in 30 second increments, checking often. There is a place in the manual for making a note of your preferred cooking times for each type of vegetable chip - it's worth taking the time to do this & record your results. Once you have the timing worked out, cooking will be much less fussy & you'll be able to produce chips quickly & efficiently.
- Chips that have started to brown during cooking will be much crispier and will STAY much crispier - non-browned chips will still be delicious, but lose a little of their *snap* over time.
- Comments elsewhere have recommended using an olive oil mister to lightly spray the chips before cooking for additional flavor - although the chips are fantastic without the oil, I'm looking forward to trying them this way, too. Am imagining all kinds of seasoning possibilities - garlic oil; fresh rosemary mixed in with the salt; BBQ spices on sweet potato chips; etc.

All in all, I think this is a great product and I'm anticipating using it a LOT. I already have at least 3 people in mind who'll be getting this as a gift from me in the near future, too. Wonderful!

We just received our chip maker. Unpacked it, washed it and used it. Slice the potatos, Put the slices on a paper towel, pat dry and transfer to the round chipper and microwave for three minutes. While they are cooking[?] you have enough time to do batch two, or three, or four, until you run out of potatos.
They taste sort of like a baked Pringle. I salted mine, next time I'll try salt and pepper.
